William Kimball enlisted to serve in the Revolutionary War three times - the first time just 5 days after his 18th birthday. First, he enlisted in Bradford, Essex Co., Mass., May 15, 1776, and served until January 1, 1777, in Capt. Brown's Co., Glover's Regiment, Fourteenth, MA. He enlisted again in Capt. Nathaniel Gage's Co., Col. Johnson's Regiment, and marched to Saratoga, Oct. 1777, and served until after Burgoyne's surrender, which he witnessed. He returned to Winter Hill and was discharged there. Finally, he enlisted at Bradford, Essex Co., Mass., in 1778, in Capt. Foster's Co. of Massachusetts Militia, and served in Rhode Island until Jan. 1, 1779. [1] |
