Death Note |
Samuel Ladd and his son Daniel and Jonathan Haynes and his son Joseph brought teams of oxen to a pasture on the far western edge of town to collect some hay from their pastures. Returning home slowly, they were stopped by 14 Indians, 7 on each side of the path. The Ladds gave their horse the lash and it took off for home with the Indians shooting at it - though it was riderless, that served to raise a general alarm in the town. The Indians dealt severe blows to the two older men and Haynes collapsed. When Ladd, did not an Indian raised a hatchet but then laughed at his expression, mocking his apparent fear. Another Indian stepped behind Ladd and killed him with one blow. After capture, the Indians were asked why they had killed the two older men. They said they killed Haynes becuase he was too old to go with them, and the killed Ladd because, “he so sour.” [1] |
