- A son of Joseph Cabot and Elizabeth Higginson. He was a partner with his brothers John and George Cabot in the firm of J&A Cabot in Beverly, Massachusetts. During the Independence War, the Cabots became rich as the most extensive privateers in America. From the proceeds of these ventures and the inheritance from their mother Elizabeth (Higginson) Cabot in 1781, the Cabots had ample means which they invested in real estate, including the Lechmere farm in Cambridge, to which Andrew Cabot retired after the partnership was dissolved. Andrew Cabot married Lydia Dodge and had five daughters who married well and several sons who did not (marry). Andrew Cabot was a projector of the Charles River Bridge but he died in 1791, before the project was finished.
