- Jacob Overocker was born c. 1750, probably in Beekman Patent. He most likely moved to the Tomhannock area with his father. He married Rachel Yates, and they had several children: Michael, Martin, Stephen Joyce, Peter, Jacob, Anna Barbara, Rachel and Cate.
Served in the 14th Regiment with Peter Doty.
Jacob was probably married to Rachel Yates when he moved to Schaghticoke. Rachel was the daughter of Richard Yates, a Loyalist. Richard's children were Rachel, Elenora, Eve, James and Peter. James was a murderer who killed his wife and children. This Yates family was English and not connected with the Dutch Yates. Richard was supposedly from Westchester Co. NY.(41)
Lansingburg Gazette January 23, 1810
